Canon Powershot Firmware Hack
What should today's DSLR?

I've narrowed it down to these three: Sony Alpha 390 Canon EOS Digital Rebel XS Canon EOS Rebel T1i'm new to the DSLR digital and I want to ease them a nice Canon Powershot I had before. The other option is to get something like this: Canon Powershot SX30 and cut the firmware … what you say, interwebs?

I would stay away from Sony. Their cameras are fine, but their goals are not as good as Canon or Nikon, however, and a lot of their stuff is proprietary, so you can not get third-party accessories (flashes come to mind). Among the Rebel XS and Rebel T1i actually There are two things that make up the bulk of the difference between the two: "The T1i can record HD video (from the XS does not have video)-The T1i has 15 megapixels (the XS has 10) Unless really want to video mode, or plan on printing your images more than 16×20 ", the XS is a better option. If you are not the impression large, the 15 megapixels become a burden, increasing the file size for no reason. My recommendation is to go with the XS (or the XSi, which has some specs a little better and not really much more than the XS), and spend the money you saved by not getting the T1i into good lenses. The 50 mm f / 1.8 is great on a budget, for 50 mm f / 1.4 is even better. Shoot with 50 mm for a while and you will be able to decide which targets should get next, based on his shooting style. Good luck!
