Canon Powershot Flash Not Working
Can You Please Help Me Set My Canon PowerShot S5 IS for a Specific Shot?
I’ve been trying to adjust my camera for hours but it’s not working. I’m trying to take close up shots of these collectible model cars (little bigger than those Matchbox cars). Nothing works, everything comes out blurry and the camera always tells me to use the Flash, but when I do, it comes out even worse. I’m using a black background and have a stand-up lamp to use (3 settings). It is unfiltered. Any advice? Where should the lamp light be in relation to the subject I’m shooting? Anything else is GREATLY appreciated.
The number one thing that you are not mentioning, and neither are the other answers, is whether or not you are using a tripod? You MUST have the camera tripod mounted. Any macro mode creates a very shallow depth of field, (narrow range of focus). Second, since you are indoors using a lamp, the camera must set a slow shutter speed for proper exposure. It is GOOD that you are not using flash. That is what you want to do, i.e. NOT use flash, but use ambient, natural light. However, you WILL have a blurred photo if you are trying to handhold the camera at the slow shutter speed required.
So along with using the macro mode on the camera, as well as manual focus, you MUST have the camera tripod mounted.
Also, it would not hurt to use the self timer to activate the shutter. Just you pushing down on the shutter button can create blur due to camera movement.

Canon Powershot Flash Not Working
Canon PowerShot A460 not working properly?
I did not change any settings at all, but when I used it one morning, the results were so bright, No image can be seen on the LCD. All white. No flashes were used. I used the macro mode to take a closer shot but got no good results. there were lines if I change the pixel mode. Even taken indoors, the image is just plain white or if not very bright.Grid lines also there.
I already reset it to its original settings but the results were still the same.
I haven’t visited Canon’s service center yet (of course to save on their technical charges).
It’s about 14th month old, just finished 1 year of warranty.
Pls. help……Appreciated.
Check your ISO settings. Otherwise, it appears your sensor has simply gone bad.
