The Panasonic DMC LX3 is sitting at the top end of compact digital camera market. It has 10 megapixels and a 2.5x optical zoom. The lens has a wide angle equivalent to 24mm to fit in 35mm format. This makes the broader purpose than other cameras offer Digital Compact. This feature makes the Lumix LX3 good choice for those who enjoy taking pictures of scenes of large, like landscapes. In my tests I was very impressed by the sharpness of pictures. Compared to wide angle digital cameras from other levels of sharpness and overall quality images produced is very good.

With only 2.5 x zoom available and taking into account the fact that this unit has a wide-angle zoom capability is limited. To avoid this, you can reduce the number of megapixels is taken to increase the amount available to 4.5x zoom.

When it comes DMC LX3 features should satisfy most amateur photographers. You can store pictures in RAW mode for possible manipulation. You also have access with image stabilization, a hot shoe, custom modes, a fast burst rate, manual focus and manual exposure modes. settings Favorites can be stored in two custom modes for easy access.

A maximum aperture of f / 2 gives you access to shutter speeds too fast.

In the back of the DMC LX3 is a 3 inch LCD screen. It is 460,000 points (double standard). This keeps the screen very easy to see. There is also an option to purchase an optical viewfinder. This seems to connect the device via the claw.

The shoe is also used to connect an external flash. The internal flash appears at the top of the device. This will move the flash away from the target and reduce the chances red-eye.

If you want to use your digital camera to shoot short video clips, then you'll be pleased to learn the DMC LX3 can record video in HD quality.

I think Panasonic has done a good job with the design of the device. Although I always I prefer the design and controls offered by the major DSLR I found the switch of the camera in macro mode or manual focus mode useful. In addition, it is also a switch to select the aspect ratio of a sudden. It is quick and easy to configure the device to take a good photo for printing 6 x 4 inches or for playback on a widescreen TV.

Another feature that you have no probably noticed if you've seen the specifications on the camera is the video mode. I'm not sure you can connect directly to a type of film used in a traditional 35mm camera, but it gives some control over the color of your pictures and strength of colors used.

As regards jurisdiction of the DMC LX3 is facing devices like the Canon PowerShot G10 and Nikon Coolpix P6000. To be honest, at this end of the market is often better image, so it is often a matter of deciding what features and how it handles the camera. I was impressed although the overall image quality, focus and sharpness of images that I tested was a pleasant surprise.

In total the LX3 Panasonic DMC is comparable with other similar digital cameras specified. This range is a good option if you're interested in scanning photos of landscapes.
