Canon Powershot G11 Digital Camera
Canon or Nikon? Please help?

I am looking for a higher end point and shoot camera. As much as I love, I'm not ready to a digital SLR. I've cut down to the Canon Powershot SX20 IS (# http://www.usa.canon.com/consumer/controller?act=ModelInfoAct&fcategoryid=144&modelid=19208 ModelTechSpecsAct) and the Nikon Coolpix P100 (http://www.nikonusa.com/Find-Your-Nikon/Product/Digital-Camera/26212/COOLPIX-P100.html). Originally fell in love with Canon G11, but decided against it still only has a 5x optical zoom and no way to really improve that (please correct me if I'm wrong). I will be shooting a wide variety of subjects and settings, any advice or comments are appreciated. Thank you!

Canon G-11 and P100 Nikon are equally good. If you are looking for for more zoom capability, go with Nikon P100.
