Cheap horizontal / lateral tripod?

I want to start making time-lapse movies of myself for creating works of art. I need a tripod basically, the position of the camera above my head. I know there are expensive tripods have a center column that can be put in a position side, but I am poor. I'm looking for something for under $ 80 ($ 50 would be great). There are tripods that do this are in my price range, or should I MacGyver something myself. I'll be using a Canon Powershot G11, so the tripod is not necessary to hold that much weight. I bought the equipment 10 / 9, which is the first day it was available here in Kansas City. I've done hundreds of photos comparing the images side side with my G10 in various environments. This Review my first impression is based on the limited time I had. I eagerly awaiting the launch of this device. I have a Nikon D90 DSLR, but many times they prefer to take a compact. In the past, the Canon G-10 was used for this purpose, but the S90 has a better performance in low light and a smaller size.

The first thing I wanted was to test the image quality and noise at high ISO settings. Most amateur photographers and professionals know that the low light performance is the number one factor that influence the camera and target prices. This is the main reason for a zoom lens f/2.8 costs 3-5 times more than f/3.5-5.6 zoom. Canon PowerShot S90 works very well in this regard. The RAW series S90 at ISO 800 are equal or superior to the G10 RAW ISO400 fixed. Both the luminance and noise chrominance are lower in the S90 images. This represents an improvement Case 1, which is what I expected. These comparisons were made with all the noise reduction disabled in the device and the DPP software. I have tried all other ISO and found the best in S90 all settings above ISO 100 and the two chambers equal IQ demonstrated at the base of ISO 80 and 100.

Canon also has the S90 with a fast f/2.0 lens from f/2.8 at the G-10, but this part of the camera does not impress me. The aim is that the advantage a stop in opening the most comprehensive and detailed close up there immediately. The G10/G11 is faster in telephoto lens and the difference is negligible at all zoom settings in the middle. Both lines are equally strong objectives throughout its zoom.

The camera comes with a newer version (3.7), software for Canon Digital Photo Professional. There is not much difference compared to previous versions, but there is a good improvement: Section objective of the aberration is enabled for images taken with the S90. This allows the correction of vignetting, CA and distortion. I do not understand why the same controls that are not available for RAW files taken with the G-10. No function recovery in the software, which is a disappointment. More discouraging factor is the software Canon has not released a new RAW codec, the current version (1.5) is not compatible with the S90 and G11. This allows RAW file for display Windows and the thumbnails will be created in Windows Explorer. Am sure they are working on an update, but I want this loan were when the device was released.

I went step by step through the menus and functions of the two chambers during My comparison and most functions are very similar. The S90 has AF and less options on the remote, but I do not think that something is missing.

Thought to give this camera just 4 stars because of the few punches that I mentioned earlier, but then decided to not be fair. The title of "Best Compact has been debated feverishly on the web, with more votes from the G10 and LX3. But now me think that the new version from Canon both S90 and G11 will soon finish its deliberations. There is no doubt in my mind that this pair is superior to all competitors. Therefore, a five star rating is the only logical choice. I recommend this camera.

Bottom line is that all three of these cameras are excellent, and the differences in the real world (as opposed to a test lab) are going to be nearly insignificant. At the risk of insulting you, if you don’t know which particular features are most important to you, I wouldn’t worry about it. I would, however, really recommend going to an actual store and playing with all three of them…buy the one that it easiest and most comfortable for you to use.
