Which should I get for an amateur photographer – Canon or Nikon DSLR?

I got a Canon Powershot XS 110IS at the beginning of the year for a birthday present, and I really liked it a lot. I discovered my love for photography and my parents agree that I should pursue it, which obviously means upgrading my camera. If I were to buy a Canon, it would definitely be one of the Rebels. I’m sort of leaning towards those just because I am used to Canon cameras, however I would like to try out either a Nikon D5000 or D90 (mostly because I NEED an HD video on it for the amount of concerts I attend). I have heard great review on both the D90 and D5000, but they are quite costly. I’ve read mixed review on the Rebels. So, it would be greatly appreciated if you could leave me your opinion if you have had any experience with any of the cameras I listed! Thanks a bunch!

I have recently done massive amounts of research on DSLRs as I am also in line for a DSLR. Personally, I would go with the Nikon line over the Canon line. Canon has the edge when you’re talking about the smaller cameras like PowerShots, Coolpix, etc. but Nikon has the edge (IMO) when you enter the DSL market.

I’ve seen a few d90 kits on Costco.com and Sam’s Club.

However, if video is the only reason you’re thinking about the Nikon line and you’re happy with the Rebel line (they do take great photos and I know many happy Rebel owners) DON’T spend the extra! If you search the reviews, you will see that almost every website out there has stated that unless you have an EXTREMELY steady hand, you will probably not be too happy with the video that the d90 produces. What digital camera should I get?

Hello! I am interested in buying a new digital camera (Video), but the problem is that I'm not sure what kind of specifications should I be looking for. What I'm looking for is to create and vlogs is important for me to have good quality, if anyone can recommend a good camera for me? "Thank you!

I really like the SD780 canyon, but if you're looking to just make videos that may try to obtain only a video camera. With a target chamber and pull you get HD video quality, but not the best quality in comparison with the real and the camcorder. But if I had to choose between these two cameras I'm going with the 780.
