With the lah-dc20 adapter, if i get this can I use any canon lens with it?
I have a Canon Powershot s5is and I know I need the lah-dc20 adapter to use additional lens. I need a manual focus lens. So I was wondering if I got the adapter can I use any Canon len with it or only the TC-DC58b len?
The LAH-DC20 is a package that contains the lens hood LH-DC40 and the converter/filter adapter LA-DC58E. I don’t know if you can find only the LA-DC58E adapter, I think only the LAH-DC20 hood+adapter package is sold.
Anyway it doesn’t allow attaching other lenses into the PowerShot S5-IS. The adapter LA-DC58E allows using the WC-DC58A wide angle converter, the TC-DC58B telephoto converter, or any 58mm diameter filter like polarizers, ND, close-up (magnification for macro only), etc.
I have a A640 with the LA-DC58F adapter, and I use a Hoya 58mm circular polarizer with it. It’s very useful for landscape under strong daylight, delivering fantastic blue skies and reducing reflections.

Why is there no manual focus on cameras anymore?

I’m talking about compact digital cameras.
I think it may have more to do with the fact at a lot of people who have been shooting P&S cameras have upgradded to DSLR’s to do their selective focus shots.
And yes there are more features found on the new P&S cameras, like face recognition and operator designation of focus points.
The goal seems to be to create a P&S camera that will produce perfect photos without the operator needed to know anything about photography.
