Canon Powershot Memory Error
Canon Powershot A540 camera tells me my memory card is locked …?

I had a Canon Powershot A540 for nearly two years and have had no problems with it before this. Now sometimes when I turn it on it tells me "error in the memory card" or "Memory Card Error! Card locked!" Of course not knowing anything about technology in my frustration, I hit a couple of times to loosen or whatever and usually it would work again. Or I took the card memory and out of it again and help him. But now that he is doing and I have no idea what is causing this. Is my camera? Or my own memory card (A Kodak 1 GB)? Since I had the camera so long I know that the warranty is gone, but I hoped that there would be a cheap and easy solution to this … ack. Thanks! The switch is up, but no matter where is my camera still says it is locked. But thanks.

Memory Cards cheap. Just get a new one. I hope you are not hitting your camera! I have one like yours, and is a very nice camera. But it is a very delicate! Please give no more, or ruin it. Blow compressed air can ruin the camera, too. I think we get a new card should solve your problem.

memory card for the camera is locked, said a mistake?

I just bought a new memory card for my camera photo, and when I put in my camera says "memory card error" and "card locked". I have a Canon PowerShot A460. It's not my camera because my old memory card still work, just do not have enough pictures. I tried to move the small switch on the side of the card, and does not solve the problem. What now?

Use a card reader and format the card in FAT / FAT32 on the computer. Try to write data from your computer on it and if it works, format, and then use it again in the room. If not, go and try again.
