Canon powershot S3 or S5?
Is the Canon Powershot s5 or s3 a better quality?! Is there much of a difference, or iwould it be better to get the S3? I know the S5 has 2 more megapixles and a little bigger LCD, but the S3 is not as expensive. I want to get one of the two.

I too have been debating the last few days on which one to get. I went with the s3, for mostly price reasons and the fact that it is in essence the same camera. The S5 has “face detection”, 8mp, the “hot shoe flash”, 207,000 pixel LCD and is heavier than the S3. I don’t care about most of the “extra features” on the S5, so I cannot justify spending another 150 bucks. I currently have an s2 and I really like it, just thought the Black looked a little better…….but even then…..the s2 and the S3 are almost the same! I posted a link for you to compare. I got the s3 brand new on eBay for 239 and 9.50 shipping

On Canon Powershot S5-IS, how good is this camera?
Please, I’m not a professional with cameras, but I want to buy a good one, so how about Canon Powershot S5-IS??
And also they have offered 4x AA Alkaline Batteries with it, how good are these batteries? Thanks
I have not seen the S5-IS yet, but my daughter has had her S2-IS for a couple of years and, based on that, I’d say that the S5 ought to be a great camera. The reviews say the same, also.

Go there and click on “Read owner opinions” and see what over 50 people have to say. The comosite score is really 3.9996 out of 5, so that’s decent. You can check the review on the S3-IS and assume that this camera is at least as good.
Get rechargeable NiMH “AA” batteries of 2,400-2,500 mah or more and they will last a decent while. Alkalines are what you use when your last set of NiMH die and you are at the Grand Canyon and have to buy some batteries in the gift shop at $3 each. Energizer e2 are the best non-rechargeable batteries to get. They cost twice as much, but last 4 times as long as alkalines.
