How do I get my pictures from my Canon Powershot SD750 camera to my laptop that runs on Linux?

My brother has changed the operating system my Windows laptop to Linux. Now I can not upload images from camera to laptop, which does not even recognize when the camera is connected to it. Any link to a driver that would make my laptop recognize my camera would be much appreciated.

If you have the CD that comes with the camera should be able to reinstall the driver from the CD.
