I wanted to get a new digital / point and shoot camera for some time. I've seen dozens of comments and I live in Canada. I am looking at a price of about $ 300 Canadian or less. I would like a camera that takes pictures great macro and just above / clear images in general, is good to take videos, and works well in low light. I also like having many options and I need a scene timer of the camera too. I've looked at the Panasonic Lumix DMC FS25, the Canon PowerShot SD780 IS and the Sony Cyber Shot DSC W270. Any suggestions or recommendations?

Do not worry too much about megapixels – all modern cameras have more than enough, plus there is a limit to the number of pixels that can overwhelm a small sensor P & S before I really lose quality rather than win. Do not worry about digital zoom, in fact, not using it. Just pixels away crops, ie destroys the information. The only real optical zoom. Nikon S710 VS. Canon SD780 .. which is better?

I'm looking into getting a new camera. My last was a Canon A70, which lasted forever and for all, until I spilling soda on it and does not take any pictures: (I'm looking for two cameras: Canon PowerShot SD780 and Nikon Coolpix S710. I know I can count on Canon, but I heard that Nikon is a great brand. The Nikon has a 14.5 MP, 3.6x zoom screen 3. The Canon has 12.1MP, 3x zoom and a 2.5 screen. No difference in price much. I wonder if anyone can lead me in the direction of one or the other? Or tell me things that you can have ..?

I swear by Canon. There is nothing better, but if you must venture outside of Canon or Nikon, so do not go with Minolta. I tried one of their models and it is horrible! I do not much care for Pentax but each of their own. You have talked about two bills to go with the more did you like most and options you need.
