How can i zoom while recording a video?
alright well i have a Canon Powershot sd990 IS and i used to be able to zoom while recording a video, but i was recording a video right now and it didnt want to zoom, i dont know if i changed any settings but if someone could plz help me out id really appreciate it.
The SD990 IS has two types of zoom…
optical (the best for image quality) and
digital (crappy, not the best for image quality).
You CANNOT zoom optically while recording a video, but you CAN zoom in digitally…so you need to look up ‘Digital Zoom’ in the Index of your User Guide on how to turn it on.
But, as I said before, zooming in digitally produces poor image quality, so remember to turn it back to OFF, when shooting still images.
p.s. have a look at the very handy chart near the back of your User Guide… ‘Functions Available In Each Shooting Mode’ found on pages 156-159. It shows you at a glance, what functions you can use and in which shooting mode you can use them. Refer to it often if you’re not sure about your camera’s functions.
