Canon Powershot Sx10 Is Review
Need help with what camera to buy! A Canon?

Powershot SX10-IS or a Nikon D40. I have a Minolta SRT100 that I love to shoot and I have 2 lenses for it. I also have a point and shoot Kodak that I am outgrowing. I still love taking film photos with the film SLR. I have read reviews on both cameras and I like what each has to offer. I am not worried about the auto focus so much on the D40- as I seem to take good shots with my old SLR. But that powershot has a lot of nice features without having to lug around a bunch of lenses. I am just not sure and would like the opinions of the photo bunch here! Thank you! I am not a professional at all- I just enjoy photography and really enjoy it. I want to take better photos and I love the art of it.

There is never any comparison between any point and shoot and a DSLR. The advantages of the DSLR would take an hour to list, but be assured, no point and shoot is in the same league. The Nikon D40 is a very good camera for the price, though you can do better than the kit lens, but even that is far superior to the optics in the Powershot. By the way, Canons are great, I am not saying that. I am just saying between your two choices, there really is no choice, definitely go for the Nikon D40.

A good improvement from the previous Kodak SV710 where there were resolution issues and you could see pixels in the picture when taking a closer look sine the resolution was 480×270. The Kodak SV811 digital photo frame comes with 800×480 resolution, which moving forward has become sort of a minimum standard if you want a crisp image to show avoiding a pixellated view. The outer frame itself is stylish and attractive and gives a modern look like its predecessor. You have a choice of either making it stand up or you have an option to mount it on a wall.

The interface is user friendly, it comes with an on/off timer facility and immediately starts the slideshow once its turned on. The colour of the digiframe is nice, bright and vibrant. You can plug a digital camera directly into the frame and view your pictures as well.

Another upgrade from the previous model is the in-built memory, there was no in-built memory in the SV711. However the Kodak SV811 does come with 128MB. In my opinion and the opinion of other SV811 owners that sort of memory is not enough and you will have to invest in a memory card if you want to store a decent amount of pictures. However, on the bright side, the SV811 does support nearly all types of memory cards, so that should not be a problem.

Since the frame is mains powered, it may cause an inconvenience when deciding where to place it because you will need a socket near by.

Despite having the option to play videos, its not as straight forward as one may think and you would need to have some basic knowledge about different compression formats in order to get them playing on the SV811.

Thinking of buying the Kodak SV811? Don’t buy before checking out the bargain prices on our website http://digitalphotoframes.smsd.co.uk

Canon Powershot sx10 or Panasonic Lumix FZ28?

Hey guys! im so confused about these cameras and im deciding between them..i would like to buy canon because it has everything i want but for example no raw (and in reviews i always read that there are also some features noticebly better on FZ28 compared to sx10)..I dont mind about sx10 video (even if its not HD, people say the video has really good quality). I have pretty old camera Sony DSC-S50 and im used to be really amazed at its variable LCD..and i want it on my future camera…i think that canon sx10 is really good camera but my friend is gonna buy FZ28 and i dont wanna regret…Can anyone comfort me?:)

Could you wait and check out your friend’s camera before YOU buy?

I know that the SX10 IS is the very camera I would buy if I was in the market for one right now, but if you have the opportunity to check out the other one, perhaps you should do that first.
