Canon Powershot Sx200 Is Digital Camera

Digital SLR Camera and recommendations?
I want a digital camera that is lighter and smaller than a SLR, without too compromising on quality and a battery that is not constant dead (preferably rechargeable). As there are many different models around, does anyone have a recommendation? He had a look at short and perhaps the Canon Powershot SX200 sounds good. I love the variety and good resolution Zoom wide, but do not know how good it really is. All ideas and / or recommendations where to start? Thank you all for the replies, all are Useful for what can not decide which is best, so I put the question to vote.
First, continue the best brands. Canon, Nikon, Pentax, etc. If you like a wide range of zoom, an entire class of cameras called "superzoom" or sometimes "for consumers." S5 IS Canon, the Nikon P80 and P90 are good examples. They look something like a reflex (deliberately designed to be misleading, the bulge at the top, if this is a pentaprism as a reflex, but it has a flip-up flash). And they zoom ranges greater than 15 times, saving you the cost of extra lenses, and not have to carry. I have a Canon and love it. It uses AA batteries and last a long time, but the good thing about AA is that you can achieve additional set of rechargeable batteries in the pocket because the batteries are discharged, in the least opportune moment.
