Why is my Canon Powershot custom upload videos to my iPhoto or iMovie?

Says no camera connected when I try to upload into iMovie! I really need to go up. This is important and could affect my future. seriously.

How do I get the sound in my videos on my digital camera Canon PowerShot A480?

I am sure that the noise was of them before, but now I can not get the sound in my videos. Any help?
