Canon Speedlite 430ex Ii Ttl Flash
Anyone got problem with canon speedlite 430EX II turning into TTL mode all the time?

I have just bought the canon speedlite 430ex II few days back. Found out something weird happening. In the middle of something the flash gun’s mode turns into TTL mode (which shouldnt happened to type A camera. I have canon 400d that supports ETTL II)

as far as i know, TTL mode only appears when the flash is attached to the type b camera (such as manual or film camera)

has anyone experienced this problem before ? is this a product defect ??
thanks Paul..but i think i found out the problem..the flash should be communication on TTL, and what ive found out is, there is a problem in the hot shoe on my canon 400d..might need to get a new one tommorow..haha

It is by default in E-TTL mode all the time. You would need to change it into manual mode to change this.

Check it is properly mounted on the hotshoe. Lock it. Enjoy.

E-TTL II on the flash sync cable or flash device RF 602-unit?

Currently I have a Canon EOS 550D and have just bought a Canon Speedlite 430EX II. I try to use as a camera flash (for the portrait, especially anything that would be necessary) but do not know whether to go with or without thread. Wireless E-TTL II me (you really need?), But I get an annoying cable (I hate cables). Or it could go wireless, what i is not E-TTL II compatible (but the price), but can be used as a remote trigger, and it would be useful for many of Photography night. I found both with approximately $ 10 price difference with the two, so this is not the price, only that it would be best. Thank you!

You think I can too (I'm not a Canon user) get the Canon ST-E2 wireless if you want TTL transmitter – much more expensive than RF602! I recommend going wireless RF602 and learning to light with the flash-hand power instead of TTL. The advantages are that TTL (if measurement system Auto Flash) can often be taken for what was then the trim wheel EV Flash anyway – might as well have scored in the power flash manual to begin! May also be inconsistent between shots. As is automatically set the flash power, do not know what the flash is firing, This can make the creation of a new complex plane. The advantage of TTL is really in "situations Run & Gun" did not have time to make a move, but you're shooting and moving – a photographer shooting mainly. Manual flash is easy to get the hang of. Triggers are very reliable RF602 and have a great variety. You just set the 430EX to manual mode and dial the power up and down on the flash. Most of my work camera flash is done with the RF602 and flashes; http://www.flickr.com/photos/deepbluephotography/ Suggest you have a blog Strobist to obtain information from the camera flash; http://strobist.blogspot.com/2006/02/welcome-to-strobist.html and its partners Flickr group for lots of discussion about gear and techniques; http://www.flickr.com/groups/ strobist /
