Canon Speedlite 580ex Ii Flash Light
external flash or new target for wedding photography?

Currently I have a Canon Rebel XSi with a Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. I have been asked to shoot for a wedding this coming fall. Like most of my photos are taken indoors in a reception room, I wonder if my goal is to provide enough light to take crisp, clear photos. I was thinking either the Canon 35 mm f / 1.4 L of the lens as it is a fast lens and something I might be using beside the wedding event, or I could add a Canon Speedlite 580EX II to my computer. What do you think would be a better choice since it can not pay so much at the moment.

Well, I would have preferred to have a flash .. Built-in flash (Guide number approx 13) not powerful enough to capture these events. Canon Speedlite 580EX II has a guide number of approximately 58 years, much more powerful than built in.. Of course, make use of a diffuser with flash .. As for lens, f / 2.8 is very good for these times … (After all these are not macro shots). There is another problem with such major objectives .. 35 mm, which corresponds to about 50 in the camera .. fixed means of the lens, you need to move forward and backward to keep the subjects in the framework .. At events like weddings, it is very difficult to deal with the issues .. By contrast, the control of a lens to keep the subjects in the framework is much easier ..

external flash or new target for wedding photography?

Currently I have a Canon Rebel XSi with a Canon 17-55mm f/2.8. I was invited to draw for a wedding next fall. Like most of my photos are taken indoors in a ballroom, I wonder if my goal is to provide enough light to take sharp pictures clear. I thought either the Canon 35 mm f/1.4 L lens that is a fast lens and something I could use next to the wedding event, or I could add a Canon Speedlite 580EX II on my computer. What do you think would a better choice because he can not pay so much for the moment

The problem with large openings are very limited depth of field. Even if you use High ISO numbers, can also flash is far from being powerful enough in a large room. In fact, it would be much easier to use a gun greater storage. If not I like the flash can be seen bouncing wall or ceiling. It's a good idea to realize some pictures from the first practice, preferably in the room designed to have an idea of the results of the lighting.
