Need lens recommendations for my canon EOS 40D for for General purpose?
Hi everyone
i have a Canon 40D with the 28-135 mm lens, im thinkin of getting a better lens but i’m stuck at deciding which one i shoud get,
Was wondering whether I should get a
Canon 24-105mm f/4L IS USM Autofocus Lens or
Canon EF 17-40mm f/4L USM Lens or
Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens
im really at a standstill for which lens to get. all have their strengths and weaknesses.
just want to know which one is sharper. which image quality is good from these
Note i want to replace my 28-135 lens for bettet one,( better image quality) not buld quality if the build quality was very good but it dosen’t take good/sharp images then build quality means nothing in my opinon
second Note i want to use only one lens for General purpose

All these lenses are sharp enough for any purpose. Buy the one with a more versatile focal length. In my opinion, that would be the 15-85mm lens. The 24-105mm has more telephoto but lacks wide angle, and the 17-40mm is a tiny bit wider, but virtually has no telephoto at all.
Before you buy, it’s best that you test each of these lens at a store. Ask to try these lenses, and take sample pictures in the store with each. Go home, and compare to the images for sharpness. Also test for autofocus speed and accuracy. Also test if the focal lengths are useful to you.

canon 17-40mm f/4L USM Lens
Canon EF-S 15-85mm f/3.5-5.6 IS USM Lens
all have their strengths and weaknesses,
so if you were in my shoe, which would you choose among them and why?

This lens has a good color saturation, sharp image quality and fast Autofocus. the 85mm focal length is very useful to zoom at something without having to carry your longer zoom around. I use this lens mostly at day time.
