Canon line of lenses can be a little intimidating for a new SLR or the holder of the digital SLR camera. The main reason is probably the fact that Canon offers more than 60 interchangeable lenses for its SLR range of cameras and digital SLRs. This target line-up includes first, zoom, tilt and changes, macros, targets large, and super telephoto lenses.

Although Canon manufactures many types of lenses, the range EF is the most popular in these lenses fit the EF mount all Canon SLR cameras and digital SLRs. In addition, Canon also manufactures a range EF-S to accommodate the range of Canon cameras use CMOS APS-C as the series Rebelde. The EF-S can be used on APS-C cameras, but these devices can also use a normal EF. All Canon EF can be classified into one of the following categories:

Prime (fixed) lenses

  • Ultra Wide – Premiums usually with a focal length of 20mm f/2.8L or less EF14mm USM II. It is primarily used for landscapes.
  • Broadband – Premium 20 and 50mm f/1.4L USM that EF35mm. It is primarily used for landscapes.
  • Standard & Medium Telephoto – Premiums between 50 and 100 mm, as the brilliant EF85mm F1.2L USM II. Ideal for portraits.
  • Tele – Prepares between 100 and 300mm f/2.8 L IS USM and the EF300mm. Typically used for wildlife and sports photography.
  • Super telephoto lens – 400 mm primes more as the EF600mm f/4L IS USM, used for birds, sports and nature photography.

Zoom (adjustable) Lenses

  • Wide Zoom – zoom starting between 16 and 22 mm focal length as the EF17-40mm f/4L USM. Useful for landscapes and weddings.
  • Standard Zoom – zoom starting between 24 and 28 mm at the wide end and a range between 70 and 200 mm, the EF24-105mm f/4L IS USM. Useful for weddings and portraits.
  • Telephoto – 28mm zoom starting at wide end range between 70 and 300 mm f/2.8 L EF70-popular than 200mm IS USM. It is used for a wide variety of applications such as weddings, wildlife, birds and street photography.

Canon EF-S
Lenses with a special bracket that can be used with Canon cameras, the APS-C as the series Rebelde. The cameras APS-C sensor has a 1.6x multiplier effect on the normal lens EF, hence the need for glasses as the EF-S 10-22mm f/3.5-4.5 USM is useful for landscape photography with the series Rebelde.

Tilt & Shift Lenses
Objectives such as TS-f/3.5L E24mm are mainly used for each architecture photography.In categories mentioned above, except for Class EF-S, high quality special "L" lenses can be found.
