Eos Rebel T1i Ef S 18 55is Kit
Which DSLR camera would be better? Anyone who has used these…?
I’m planning on buying one of these Canon DSLR’s:
1) EOS Rebel T2i EF-S 18-55IS Kit
2) EOS Rebel T1i EF-S 18-55IS Kit
3) EOS Rebel XSi EF-S 18-55IS Kit
I can’t decide which one I want… (I compared them on the canon site n the only difference seemed to be the pixels (file size…), shooting speed, n metering mode)
Would anyone please recommend one of these if they have used these products?
I’ve read some reviews where people disliked the EOS Rebel T2i EF-S saying that it was noisy and they prefered the EOS Rebel XSi EF-S…
* Also these don’t zoom as much as i want them to… i think i’ll have to buy EF-S 18-135mm f/3.5-5.6 IS $499.99 
DSLRs don’t have a built in zoom, they have interchangeable lenses that allow you to use the optimal lens for any given situation. On the other hand, if you want a camera with a built-in zoom, save your money and buy a “super-zoom” compact digital camera. Beyond that, I’d recommend either the Rebel XSi (recently discontinued but, may be available at a discount or used) or the Rebel T2i. Skip the Rebel T1i which uses a sensor similar to that of the EOS 50D and has more noise than either of the other models.
I had the Rebel XSi for about a year as a backup to an EOS 40D. I’d hoped Canon would use a similar sensor in the 50D because I honestly thought it offered cleaner images than my 40D through ISO 1600. But, Canon gave us the 15mp sensor of the 50D and T1i instead and for the first time, actually introduced new models with worse image quality than their predecessors. If video is not an issue and you want the most value for your money, get the Rebel XSi and spend the extra money on a second lens like the 55-250mm f/3.5-5.6 IS.
I’ll say again, skip the Rebel T1i but, if you’ve got extra cash to burn or want video capability, look at the Rebel T2i. It uses an 18mp sensor similar to that of the 7D. In addition to the new sensor, Canon has changed their approach to noise reduction and these cameras offer better image quality, particularly at high ISO, than the Rebel T1i and EOS 50D that came before them. You’ll also gain the ability to shoot at ISOs higher than 1600. It can also shoot 1080p HD video. That said, I tend to agree that images straightr from the Rebel XSi as a little sharper than the Rebel T2i. That can be addressed to a large extent in post processing but, the higher resolution also tends to highlight flaws in technique a little more easily.
