is the Canon PowerShot S5 IS a good camera for a sports photographer? Why or why not?

I like the Nikon D40 by sport but I dont really want to spend much money at this time

It is a good camera, but I would not say it's good for sports. First, the way burst is not as fast – only 1.5 frames per second. Moreover, the "Sports Mode" increases the ISO setting and introduces more noise image. Another issue is the manual focus. To focus the camera manually (which can be useful when shooting through a fence), you have to hold FM button on the lens body, pressing on the direction pad / button on the back of the camera. It's a real pain and time consuming. However, the 12X zoom lens could definitely come in handy. If you are serious about sports photography, I suggest you bite the bullet and spend more money on an SLR camera and some good lenses.

Digital Cameras

Photography – a creative art, an essential tool for some and a hobby for many others. Today have reached a stage where everyone should have a camera. Photography began with film cameras and I always thought they were difficult to use devices and with good reason, many reasons. They are difficult to maintain and operate. It is necessary to understand the photo to be take good pictures. For the rest, who wanted a camera as a public service, something to keep memories of that perception, the cameras were simple hand of time. These compact devices have been and are certainly cheap, and made it much easier to take pictures, but not completely full test. There were still problems common to both reflex and aim and shoot users. Film under development is expensive and many pictures have been lost due to errors during the filming – it was a time before digital sensors or preview LCD screens. Cameras Digital gained significant acceptance very quickly. In these reports, most of the problems associated with film cameras – the ability now to see your photo, the most important, but did so at a price. Even the true principles of digital cameras had not the refinement and automation we see today are much more expensive than decent film SLR cameras then available generally considered large rooms of professionals and amateurs. As seen in the past for any new technology, users should perhaps delayed the purchase of these expensive devices, but the incorporation of digital cameras has been rapid, and the market has grown steadily since then. It's been years since the point and shoot (P & S) has been developed, and the pace of improvements and progress has been made has been incredible. In a decade we have moved of film cameras could not guarantee an appropriate set of images in a film point and shoot digital that can detect faces, store, click on the pictures when people smile and there is little cost associated with their use! What more? Some people look at the point and shoot and treat them as toys and cameras to see themselves as the only digital SLR. Speaking almost point and shoot are actually pretty decent. Prosumer P &Ss;, like the Sony DSC H5, Canon SX 10 IS, the Canon PowerShot S5 IS and many others, have closed the gap between the standard point and shoot and digital SLRs. Easy to use and the ability to take pictures with telephoto macro shots in a single camera, without the need to change lenses and parameters. For a superb picture, these semi-professionals "are very good. However, if you're serious about photography and information analytical quality and perfection, we and other fans will say you must buy a digital SLR. If you are a professional photographer P & S camera, then I honestly did not know why …. dSLR contribute much to the table, and there are good reasons for its weight, size and number of buttons and options they lead. Not just go out and buy a digital SLR and walk with it in your pocket. They require a lot more respect. They are intended for those who serve one weekend a nursery to take pictures of flowers, go out and make wildlife photography, sports photography and take that kind of time spent in the room to try all sorts of plans. Digital SLRs are modular. So finally, he swept to buy an additional lens or two. The kind you buy and how much you spend, obviously depend on your needs. About the Author
