is the Canon PowerShot S5 IS a good camera for a sports photographer? Why or why not?
I like the Nikon D40 by sport but I dont really want to spend much money at this time
It is a good camera, but I would not say it's good for sports. First, the way burst is not as fast – only 1.5 frames per second. Moreover, the "Sports Mode" increases the ISO setting and introduces more noise image. Another issue is the manual focus. To focus the camera manually (which can be useful when shooting through a fence), you have to hold FM button on the lens body, pressing on the direction pad / button on the back of the camera.
