I am trying to decide which digital camera is better. Can anyone help me?

I have narrowed it down to two: The Kodak Z1485 IS which has 5 x zoom and 14.0 mega pixels. Or the Cannon Powershot SD990IS which has 14.7 mega pixels and only 3 x zoom. I would like my zoom to be nice but I also want great megapixels. I had a Sony Cybershot 7.2 mega pixel but it broke and I didn’t care for their customer service. Does anyone have suggestions as to which camera I should buy?
Im also curious if 3 x zoom vs 5 x is a big deal?

The Canon, no question. The SD990 IS actually has a 3.7x zoom so it isn’t that far behind the Kodak. It is a much nicer camera though and you’ll love it. I don’t think you would love the Kodak quite so much.
