Sigma Lens For Canon
Sigma Lens Vs. Canon Lens?

I am in desperate need of some opinions here … I'm looking for a good lens that can be used in low light and for most portrait taking. I found these two lenses and I can say that there are pros and cons of both. I like how the Sigma has a range 28-70mm … but judging by the comments of the Canon has a sharper image. I feel the Canon is so limited him to 50 mm is fixed. (Incidentally, I have a Canon Rebel XTI)

The Canon one is better because you can use largest) aperture (for less DOF, which will give him a nice background blur. If your budget allows, the 50 mm F 1.4 will be easier to use. It allows you to adjust approach while in AUTO mode. The 1.8, you should switch to manual mode for that. (It's called FTM, full-time manual focusing Canon jargon).
