Sigma Lenses For Canon Xsi
Want to get a new camera and a couple of lenses…?
I’m sold on the Canon Rebel Xsi but have heard that the “kit lens” isn’t so hot. I’d love the EF 24-70mm f/2.8L, but at 1k its a bit high for me right now. So I need something that is better than the kit lens but no where near that price. Should I stick with the Canon lenses or are there some “L” clarity lenses that are much cheaper from Sigma, Tamron etc. For this lens I’m looking to spend around 200-300 or so. I want to shoot sports so I’m going to be in the market for a 70-200mm or 70-300mm zoom as well, but don’t have any idea about that lens either.
I wish I could afford the great L lenses, but Little League starts in March and I need to have the camera, and both lenses by then. Setting aside 2k+ for this just isn’t realistic in that time frame. Thus, the plan B with the less expensive camera and lenses.
Thanks!
I’m afraid there is no magic cure. It sounds like you are well aware of the beauty of an f/2.8 L lens, and you know that the rest is just compromise.
Do some more research (including www.dpreview.com) – some lenses are still better than others, even if they aren’t that L lens.
Or consider going the absolutely cheapest you can find for now, fully intending to upgrade as soon as you are able.

Canon Camera 450D – A Very Successful Housing
My comments can only confirm all very favorable opinion issued before mine.
I would add simply that we must not hesitate to use the program experts to best use the full potential of this magnificent machine with many possibilities. They can also customize the configuration settings intrinsic to our way, while those originally in place are already proving very balanced.
Like any new acquisition of such a variable period of time depending on the level of each user is required to fully control the Canon Camera 450D from Canon. In particular, its autofocus system by phase detection, also good and very fast, likely to further destabilize an early, hence the importance of carefully reading the instructions for use, especially as Experts programs pave the way toward greater freedom of choice and options.
But rest assured, once regarded as the foundation, everything becomes clear and simple ergonomics makes it extremely easy.
Moreover, thanks to its high technical performance, it does not limit the capabilities of high-flying optical ambitious accept it willingly. It will reward you a hundredfold.
Thus, after all comparative tests and moving around, it appears that among zoom lenses, in addition to the Canon EF-S 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS Kit sold separately or base to which is appropriate to include the Canon EF-S 55-250mm f/4-5, 6 IS, the Canon EF-S 17-85mm f/4-5, 6 IS USM which can oppose the Sigma 17-70mm f2. 8-4.5 DC Macro or better if you can afford it, the Canon EF-S 17-55mm f/2.8 IS USM are among the most highly recommended solutions without forgetting the Tamron SP AF 17-50mm f / 2 , 8 XR Di II LD Aspherical (IF) for its price / performance particularly attractive.
It should be noted on the last two aperture optical constant f / 2.8, the central AF of the Canon Camera 450D is the one who makes the best development and finds himself with extreme precision the optical bright from f/2.8.
In order to complete these two zooms with longer focal lengths remain open at f / 2.8, you can turn to the Tokina AT-X 535 PRO DX is to say, an AF 50-135mm f/2.8 or the Sigma APO 50-150mm f/2.8 II EX DC HSM.
Otherwise, among the trans-zoom ultra-powerful standard, also known as travel, two interesting products recently made their appearance on the market: Canon 18-200mm f/3.5-5.6 IS and the Tamron AF 18 — 270mm f / 3.5-6.3 Di II VC LD Aspherical [IF] Macro.
And, of course, this selection is not exhaustive.
A beautiful case of athlete performance in the service of photography and photographers from all backgrounds.

What camera equipment should i get with $2,500?
ok so i just sold some gold i had lying around i want to buy some camera equipment.
I’m a novice but i’m very serious about it
I’ve got a canon eos rebel xsi, 18-55mm f/3.5-5.6 IS, 55-250 f/4-5.6 IS, 50mm f/1.8 II
I want to buy some proper lenses for many purposes. Now because of the 1.6x crop factor i was thinking a wide lens, so i was comparing sigmas 10-20 f/3.5 to canons 10-22 f/3.5-4.5, but i don’t know.
These are the lenses i was looking at, be free to suggest whatever you feel is good.
Sigma 10 – 20 f/3.5
Canon 17-40 f/4L
Canon 70-200 f/4L
Canon 100mm Macro f/2.8
Canon 24-70 f/2.8L
they are all pretty decent lens.. of your list I’d go for the
1 – Canon 24-70mm f/2.8L that is my all time favorite lens it’s on one of my cameras 100% of the time.
2. Canon 10-22mm it’s a fun lens, and a bit better than the Sigma, which is a decent lens, but not as solidly made as the Canon.
3 – Canon EF 70-200 Instead of the f/4 I’d go for the f/2.8 without the IS… it’s a fast enough lens I find I don’t need the IS feature The f/4 is just a bit slower with the smaller aperture.
4. Canon 100mm f/2.8 Macro.. awesome lens sharp as a tack, great for portraits too.
5. 17-40mm f/4L a great lens but a bit slower than I like.
