Sigma Lenses For Canon
Are sigma lenses good?
im looking for a lens for my canon eos450d….some say that sigma lenses can serve u the same way canon lenses do…except canon lenses are more expensive…im not sure about sigma lenses..are they worth the 800$…or should i expand my budget to 1200$ for a canon lens?
I have a Sigma 70-200 f2.8. Couldn’t be happier with it. Sharp, well built, fast AF. I’ll accept that the Canon 70-200 2.8 L is perhaps a little better (never used one), but I find it hard to believe that it could be so much better I’d be prepared to shell out the extra cash I’d need to buy one. for me it’s about VFM. But then I suppose it also depends how you judge VFM.

Sigma announce the development of the SD15, a 14 megapixel (2,652×1,768×3 layers) Digital SLR camera.
The Sigma Corporation is pleased to announce the new the new Sigma SD15 digital SLR camera. This digital camera is the latest model in Sigma’s digital SLR camera SD series, powered by the 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct-image-sensor it can capture all primary RGB colors at each and every pixel location arranged in three layers. The developing Sigma SD15 incorporates the “TRUE II” new image processing engine. The SD15 camera provides high resolution power and reproduces high definition images rich in gradation and impressive three-dimensional detail. Incorporation of the large 3.0 inch LCD monitor and improved processing speed provide ease of operation of the camera.
Development of the Sigma SD15
Since October 2002, Sigma has introduced three digital SLR cameras, the SD9, SD10 and SD14 to the market. In March 2008 Sigma also introduced a high-end compact digital camera, the DP1 which uses the same large image sensor as is featured in Sigma’s digital SLR cameras. They haveestablished a strong following from a wide range of photographers, both amateur and professional. Photographers expressed a desire to incorporate the image processing engine “TRUE”, which is used in the DP1, into a digital SLR camera. In order to meet this demand, the Sigma SD15, with high resolution direct image sensor, has been designed around the new “TRUE II” image processing engine. This combination delivers superior image quality as well as improved processing speed, operation and performance.

Sigma’s SD15 DSLR starts with the same 14 megapixel Foveon X3 direct-image sensor found in the unimpressive SD14 (and compact DP1 for that matter) but ratchets-up the specs with a new True II image processor and 3-inch LCD.
A worthwhile update to be sure but trivial by comparison to what Nikon and Canon have announced in recent weeks. Distracted by all the DP1 R&D were we Sigma?

About Sony DSLR Camera… please help?
I am planning to buy new kit lense for my A-200…
Does SIGMA / CANON / NIKON lenses also fits Sony DSLR?
if not, can you advise me what other lens brand can be used on my DSLR as SONY lenses are really expensive.
If the Sigma lens is an A-mount (Sony mount) it will be fine. Nikon lenses are only for Nikon and the Fuji DSLR cameras. Canon lenses are only for Canon DSLR cameras.
Every legacy Mnolta Maxxum AF lens made since 1985 will work with your A200. You should find a nice selection at http://www.keh.com or http://www.adorama.com or http://www.bhphotovideo.com Of course, eBay is also an option if you ask enough questions about the lens. Never buy a lens from an eBay seller who doesn’t offer a return policy.
