Speedlite 580ex Ii
Is the Canon Speedlite 580EX II too?

For someone who is not going to be a professional? I'm an amateur, and I want to know if I should go with the 430EX II in place. But the 580EX II is a better long-term investment? Thanks in advance!

I checked the 580EX II and 430EX II, a few years ago. My conclusions were 580 appear too large after using it in a separate media. The 430 seemed ideal for family gatherings such as Christmas, etc.But on the contrary, if I wanted to shoot works of the church, etc. 580 was more the ticket. I concluded that if he needed more power the 580 would fill the bill, but only felt like it from a base instead of trying it attaches to the camera because of its size. In so many words, it is a matter of choice ….. your choice! And in what has bought the 580, but today, I would choose the 430. I just think the 580 is too great to bear unless someone is paying for their work.
