Canon Sd1200Is – No Memory Card?
I am thrilled with technology and consider myself a bit of a techno nerd. Which is to say that I’m fairly savvy about reading specs and reviews and product info. I guess I missed the part about this camera not being able to take one single picture without a memory card that had to be purchased separately. I put this lovely camera on my birthday wishlist and received it as a gift. I excitedly unpacked it and was eager to play with it until I discovered there was no memory card included.
I can’t do jack with this camera until I go out and purchase a card. Really? How much does a small memory card cost, Canon? $2? $5? Would it have bankrupted you to install a measly, token 2 GB card? At the very least, I would really have appreciated having it clearly stated that I needed to purchase one to take a picture. I would have bought one had I known. I will buy one, I’m just disappointed. I’m sure the camera will be a fine product once I get the thing I need to make it work.
Canon SD1200IS – Great Point and Shoot Pocket Camera
I just bought this Camera SD1200IS camera a few weeks ago, after my other “pocket sized” camera (a Nikon) finally could not take a picture that was not fuzzy. It’s tiny, so it can slip into your pocket and you can take it anywhere; for comparison, it’s a bit smaller than a Blackberry.
It’s also really easy to use and so far has taken great quality pictures (and videos!) without having to think much about focus, lighting, settings, etc. Literally just point and click
Canon SD1200IS – Bargain?
Nice price for a camera with great pictures, size of camera great, however the price turned out to be the same as local stores, best buy, target, walmart, even local office equipment stores, and i got my shipment in three seperate del. the sim card was backed ordered so i cancelled and went to walmart an purchased it cheeper…so back to the old story BUYER BE WARE…
Canon SD1200IS – GREAT CAMERA
I purchased this camera at Wal-Mart (the screen seemed fuzzy.) So I went to Best Buy and purchased one there (the screen was still a liitle fuzzy.) I compared the screen to my old canon (about 3 years old.) That screen was a little fuzzy too, but the pictures are great. This is a great camera, light weight, easy to use. I love it. I got the blue color and it looks so sharp. I highly recommend it. I went to a concert recently and It look OUTSTANDING pictures.
Canon SD1200IS – Decent
Pros:
-DIGIC 4 Image Processor with Canon Face Detection Technology is much faster than DIGIC 3(from SD 790 IS)
-Excellent camera for outdoor
-Easy to use
-Simple controls/menu
-Nice features/settings
-Bright LCD
-Self-timer lets you get in your own pictures, you can take up to 3 times
-Excellent image quality
-Lightweight/Portable
-Good battery life(Compact and lightweight battery charger with worldwide 100 ~220v compatibility)
Cons:
-Made in China:(
-2.5 LCD display
-Poor Low-Light Performance
-Somewhat Pricey(more than $200USD)
I personally think it’s a great camera for a basic traveler/camera buff who wants just a little more than a basic point and shoot. I have this camera for 20 days, take about 2000 pictures, will update more review on this camera.

Canon Powershot S5IS Battery Life?
Hello, I JUST bought a Canon Powershot S5IS. I am using it mainly for taking pictures of jewelry and what fine pictures I’ve gotten so far. HOWEVER, the batteries get drained really, REALLY fast. To always be up and running I bought a Duracell Charger and extra batteries. I have 2650 mah, 2500 mah and some in the 1800s. Last night I charged the 2650 mah batteries and I was ready to go this morning to take pics. After only 10 minutes, if not less the batteries were dead. All this after hours and hours of charging. I must say though, that the charge takes 6 hours and because I was really tired I went to bed leaving the batteries in the charger. I overcharged and got a reverse reaction ? Should I buy different types of batteries all togethers (those babies are expensive). Also at times we take the pictures through the LCD screen, does this have anything to do with it ? I am just frustrated and would like some tips and tricks on getting the most out of my 12 batteries that I have already.
I have the same camera and use Energizer 2500 mAh rechargeables. Those are often considered to be the best brand. I also went with a slower charger instead of the 30-minute charger I had been using previously, which caused my batteries to quit taking a charge after a while. The fast charging generates a lot of heat, which adversely affects the longevity of the battery (not how long it gives you power, but the overall useful life of the battery). With these batteries, I can probably shoot around 450 photos without flash. I almost always use the viewfinder instead of the LCD too, which saves on power. I’ve shot 380 photos over the course of a day and went on to use the camera several more times after that.
It’s possible that you got some duds among those batteries you bought. You also want to make sure you aren’t mixing battery capacities, like the 1800s with the 2500s. I unknowingly mixed up my batteries after buying my 2500s and was using different capacities at the same time in the camera for a couple of months.
