Help Canon: 24 – 70 or 24 105? ?
Hello, I am deciding between two lenses. The Canon EF 24 -70 L or 2.8 L Canon EF 24-105 f / 4? It is the most far-reaching more … my concern is the weight of 24 -70, as I travel a lot. But again, I'm not a fence shooter, I like setting (scenery) and portraits … I'm usually fairly close, but I never know. I have a 70-200 mm f / 4 and rarely use it.
Hello, I have a 450D/XSi and originally got it with an EF-S 17-55 f/2.8. He eventually returned the lens and exchanged it for a 24-105mm f/4L IS. The 24-105 is a great walk around lens for most purposes, because the focal range covering the needs more general-purpose shooting (with the exception of architecture and wildlife telephoto). Image stabilization compensates for the difference between f / 4 and 2.8 in terms of conditions of controlled lighting. The close focusing capability (not very macro) of the 24-105mm is more, in terms of versatility that lens above 24 to 70 (who says you do a close-ups, but having the option of not having it is better). The extra reach could be useful when it may not necessarily reach close to something you want to the photo. For the landscape and architecture, I would look at the Tokina f/2.8 11-16mm. For the portrait, which could see the 50mm F/1.8 and a flash with diffuser.
