In professional photography what exactly is openness?

so this is really two questions, which you think:] and I'm looking for more in professional photography as a hobby again (hopefully career) and I was looking at comments in the chambers and the host said something about opening what exatly is it? How my picture effect? Focal make a difference in buying a camera? Also because I have been looking at digital SLR cameras, being a novice I was wondering what to buy, here are the choices I have made so far;-Nikon D40-Nikon D60 (Nikon i love so far)-Canon PowerShot G10 Canon PowerShot SX10 IS or Fujifilm-FS-S100

The aperture is the lens opening (created by an adjustable iris or diaphragm) that allows light to pass through. The exposure of the image is determined by the combination of shutter speed and aperture opening. The larger the aperture, more light is allowed to pass through the lens. The opening is measured in f-stops, and let each one represents a factor of two in the amount of light admitted. The aperture setting (f-stop), combined with the lens focal length determines the depth of field of an image. Depth of field is acceptable approach area a photographer finds that by manipulating both the aperture and shutter speed. Think use it as an airbrush to paint an image. In order to get a picture painted very fast, the artist has to sacrifice detail. The artist (camera) using a mouthpiece largest (opening) to get to the paint on the canvas in less time (shutter speed). In quick painting, there are fewer details (or depth of field) but the essential elements of the image are captured. If the artist (camera) decided to allow for more time (shutter speed) you can get more details using a lower spray nozzle (opening). This is accomplished by allowing more time to allow light to form in the film (or in the case of digital sensors …). I like Nikon also.
