Uploading to the computer of a Canon EOS 20D?

I recently posted about receiving a Canon 20D for my friend to come out of the picture. She gave me a digital camera USB cable to upload pictures, but not much else. I tried connecting the camera to my computer, but could not find the driver. So went online to the canon website and download the appropriate driver. My computer makes a ring to connect the camera and turn it back on, but not much else. I can not find the camera on my computer or anywhere. How am I supposed to upload my photos? Help please! I tried to restart the draft and still not listen. And my friend gave me all you have (camera, extra lens, cable) and that's it! Okay, maybe I'll have to pick a card reader. = S

When you have downloaded the driver, you install it correctly? Have you tried restarting the computer. Silly computers never do what you want!
